Jes & Duncan

Hi everyone, today's post is about the maternity shoot I took of Jes & Duncan.

On Friday the 30th of March, Jes & Duncan came into my studio for a maternity shoot.

This was my first one so I was both excited and nervous for this, I knew exactly what poses I would like to create, from the inspiration pictures that I had been looking at. I also asked Jes & Duncan for their opinions on these, and any pictures/moments they'd like captured.

My job of capturing them was made easy as they clearly love each other as the poses came so naturally to them both, and nothing felt forced. Some shots weren't even posed they were just taken in the moment.

Here are some of the best ones that made it into my portfolio.

I'm looking forward to photographing their baby boy when he arrives, not long now! :)

From this I now do combined maternity & newborn packages for £135, contact me for more details.

Baby George

Hi Everyone,

Today's blog post is from a photoshoot a few weeks back.

This photoshoot was of the lovely baby George, who was just one week old at the time!

It is such a special feeling as a photographer being trusted with someone's new bundle of joy, and having the opportunity to create memories for them to treasure forever, that they can share with their family and friends. This is why I love doing what I do as I believe a photograph is more than just an image, it really can make you feel better if you're having a bad day!

George was joined by his two older siblings Maggie & Jack.

Here is a selection of images:

Baby Alfie

Hi everyone,

Today's blog is featuring another cute newborn!

On Saturday the 17th of March, I welcomed Michaela, Jake, and their newborn baby Alfie into my studio.

I loved capturing the three of them. What was really special for me was seeing the pride in Jake's face at his newborn baby, being a first time father. It was also lovely to see the connections between them as a new unit of three.

Here are a selcetion of the best photos.

I really enjoyed this photo shoot, and I am looking forward to following Alfie grow up in the future and capturing the families special moments!

Thank you for reading my blog post, stay tuned for next week.

Powerlifting Down In Dover.

On Sunday the 18th of March, I went down to Dover, to see my brother and his friends compete in their powerlifting competition. Although I had to get up at 6:45 am on a Sunday morning such hard work, adding a new type of photos and seeing the strength and determination they all had to compete was worth it! The atmosphere was great, and it was a good place to have free range of my photography, in order to develop my skills in different lighting conditions.

Looking forward to writing next weeks blog and thanks for reading. :)

IMOGEN'S CHRISTENING

On Sunday the 4th of March I had the pleasure of photographing Imogen's Christening at Loxwood Church in Alford.

This was special for me to do this as Imogen is not even a year old and I have now photographed her 3 times already. I captured her a few days after she was born with her lovely Mum and Dad Isabel & Kirk, and then again at Christmas when she was slightly older. So it was a real priveledge to be asked to photograph her Christening too.

Christenings are really special to watch, as you get to see all the child's family and friends gather round to celebrate a truly special occasion in their life.  As a photographer it is an amazing thing to be apart of.

I am looking forward to following her grow up through the years, from the view of my camera.

5 Step Process of a Photoshoot with Laura Hirons Photography

Hi there, thank you for reading this.

adv.jpg

If you here because you're interested in a photoshoot, that's great I hope to hear from you soon :) Or if your reading this because your just interested in my blog posts, then fair enough thank you.

Step 1:

You get in contact with me, letting me know what special memories you would like capturing. You can do this through my email, or my photography facebook or the enquiries page on my website. Then I will usually respond pretty quickly, as my parents say I can't put my phone down. :)

Step 2:

I will run you through my prices, and possible package options. I will always try at this point to do all I can to meet your budget, even if it means we do a payment plan, which I'm quite happy to do! If at this point you are happy with my prices and I can meet your needs, then we will agree on a date and a time and a location.

Step 3:

It's the day of the photoshoot, hopefully, you are feeling just as excited as I am at this point. We meet at the arranged time and place and I capture whatever memories you have requested in a fun and friendly way, with no pressure to do anything you and or your family doesn't want to do. I hope to make sure everyone feels as comfortable as possible in the shoot and I hope to make it as engaging as I can, especially for little ones :) You pay me the money agreed, in cash at the shoot or you can bank transfer me later after the shoot, whichever you prefer.

Step 4:

I sit and edit all of the lovely images, and I then put a large selection of watermarked images (these have my logo on them) onto a password protected gallery on my website for your eyes to see. At this point, I will message you asking which ones you would like to purchase without the watermark on them, or if applicable which ones you would like for your complimentary prints.  Me getting the photos on the website can take a few days or weeks depending what the event is, but that is something I will give you an indication of after the photo shoot, or when you inquire.

Step 5:

You receive any digital images purchased by we transfer so the quality is not lost. As well as this you could also be receiving high-quality gloss prints that I will usually deliver to your home free of charge unless otherwise arranged. On top of this, you could also be receiving lovely keepsake products such as canvases and acrylic prints, depending on whether you choose to purchase them or not. Then at this point, I will check you are happy with everything, and ask you to leave me a review on my facebook page if you wish to, as these are always greatly appreciated, and help me stand out from other photographers, as there is lots of healthy competition out there!

That's it, it's pretty simple really if you have any questions please feel free to contact me, I hope to be photographing your special moment soon.

Best wishes,

Laura x

How I started my Photography Business.

Hi there,

Thank you for reading, today I'm going to answer the question of how I started running my small photography business.

I've always been passionate about photography, this started especially when I got my first compact camera, a pink Fujifilm. I received this as a birthday present for my 8th birthday and never looked back. From that moment I captured all our lovely family holidays and adventures. I still remember that time when I gave my older brother the chance to look at a photo on my camera, and he pressed a button and deleted all of the holiday photos!!!! Luckily we still had a few days left so we had to go round retaking pictures, so we had some memories to take back home with us.

Then my next camera was a Fujifilm bridge camera in the colour red, I remember feeling so proud when I bought this camera. I saved up all my pocket money in order to be able to purchase it  I went into PC world with my family and chose the one I had been looking at online for weeks. I knew I had to buy it!

Then I moved on to my lovely Nikon DSLR this was a massive step up, and I am so pleased I made the decision to upgrade. It was such an investment at the time, especially with all the lenses you can buy on top, as I realise now the options are endless. However, little did I know I would start to make the money back.

So how did I turn my passion into a small business, I set up a photography page on Facebook in July 2016, at the age of 15. This was where I wanted to post all the pictures I've taken of wildlife and flowers from my local park. Then I asked on there if anyone wanted some free family portraits, as I wanted to see what it was like to photograph people other than members of my family. I did the portrait session, and I was handed a £20 note, I was shocked, I asked what the money was for and I was told. "Well, you can't do this for free." That is how Laura Hirons Photography Started.

From then I've photographed birthday parties, christenings, family shoots, studio shoots, newborns, and a tribute band at Glive. My proudest moment so far was photographing two weddings one when I was 16 and one when I was 17. There is no better feeling than being able to capture someone's special day. The amount of trust people put in you to do it right, and then the feeling you get handing over the photo's and seeing people's genuinely happy reactions. There really is no better feeling.

I'm so grateful to be able to photograph lots of lovely people and to hand them over a set of memories they can cherish forever.

"Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment, until it becomes a memory."

Thanks for reading, enjoy your week and stay tuned for the next one.
